STOKE INNStoke
Stoke Inn sits in the Settlement of Stoke in the land of Rohan. The fare served to travels is adequate but unremarkable. While the second floor of this one and a half story tavern allows visitors a view of the stately banners of Stoke and the many antlers taken as trophies that adorn the walls. This Inn is only one of two taverns in Rohan where antlers are the primary decoration. Surprisingly neither tavern offers venison on their menu. On an interesting side note, Tolkien's oldest son, John Francis Tolkien, became a priest in the Catholic Church and was stationed for quite some time at a parish in Stoke-on-Trent in England. Tolkien was said to visit his son's home there frequently. There is a street named after Father Francis Tolkien in the town named "Tolkien Way". |
FLOODWEND INNFloodwend
The Floodwend Inn sits in the town of Floodwend within the area of The Wold in Eastern Rohan. While the fare served to travels is pretty standard and plentiful, travelers must take caution and be sure not to become blind drunk. That's because this story-and-a-half Inn features the largest collection of antlers on display in all of Middle Earth. One flamboyant or misplaced move could end with either a loss of an eye or some other serious injury. That is why even the soldiers of Floodwend are seen drunk outside the Inn rather than inside. Unless, of course they are passed out at a table. |
FORLAW FEASTING HALLForlaw
The Forlaw Feasting Hall was built in the town of Forlaw in the area of Writhendowns of Wildermore in the land of Rohan. This picturesque tavern serves the normal fare to all weary travelers and serves as a meeting place for the local towns folk. The interesting use of stone and wood combined with the large, ornate tapestries form to make a beautiful backdrop not just for the tavern but for the Bank and Auction House that also dwell inside. So if you find yourself in the cold reaches of the Wildermore be sure to make time and stop by for a warm pint of ale at the Forlaw Feasting Hall. It is sure to warm the coldest of hearts. |
